Over hyped in my opinion. If you’re really into ghost investigating I’d say it’s still worth checking out. If you aren’t that person you’re probably better off doing something else. If you do decide to go I recommend bringing your own equipment to search for ghosts. For the most part the volunteers were nice with some of them walking around and doing their own mini investigations. Seeing that was definitely very cool and slightly entertaining. When you check in at the door they have you go through a small security check point which consisted of having your bag searched and yourself. After going through that process they have you enter a small room where you sign a waiver. Once you sign the waiver they give you a quick run down of the building, rules, and minor tips for investigating. When the orientation ends then they let you roam throughout the building on your own. This aspect really adds to the entire experience which I enjoyed. Being able to roam on your own is the reason why they have so many rules.
One thing I don’t understand about this place is how protective they are of stuff you might capture via video or photography. I also find it very weird that they pretty much hold a monopoly on what information you can find on the place. I get that they might not want disinformation to spread about the asylum for whatever reason reason but this is the first place that I’ve seen atleast where they try to regulate you about what you can share.
I liked exploring the building but found some of it rather corny with all the staging. From my understanding this place was never an asylum it was a poor house, maybe some consider it the same thing. An employee also told me that one of the rooms was staged for a scene in American Horror Story but I wasn’t able to verify that from any other sources.
I always love going here. The vibe is amazing and you can feel the presence of all the spirits. I've been touched by spirits seen apparition. The whole works. Love this place with all my heart and for those who say the owner is mean and rude yall are wrong. She is so nice and very personable and a bit of a jokester. Calm down, people.
AMAZING! Ignore all the negative comments about the owner. She is very nice. Just don’t lack common sense and listen to her rules. Which are all valid. She’s running this place by herself and handful of volunteers. The place attracts a lot of strange people ( bad intentions) and people thinking they’re Zack Bagans. This place is alive and creepy and amazing. We had 3 separate experiences there that we can’t explain. Will go again. And the owner even offered my girlfriend a blanket , no evil owner would do that. She’s lovely and knowledgeable.
My 3rd time visiting this location. Staff and owner were extremely knowledgeable. Recommend for a novice investigator as they basically try to teach you how to investigate. Strict rules - no tripods and limitation on flashlight brightness...
We had SUCH a great time here! The owner and the volunteers working during our Psych Hold Dead Time tour were very kind and knowledgeable, and had so much to tell us about what we would be seeing, hearing and feeling. We experienced a lot of stuff even without any equipment besides our phone cameras and a flashlight. It was an amazing experience and we enjoyed observing the phenomena that only a place like this has to offer. It was my first time doing something like this and I definitely did not expect to really see that much. I would highly recommend doing a night time tour such as the 1a-4a or 12a-3a if they're available.
The experience can be fun if you go with the right people, and the employees were nice and accommodating. But Sharon, the owner, is nothing short of evil. She yelled at us about how bright our flashlights were and took them from us before we entered, even though the long list of rules and regulations doesn’t mention anything of the sorts. And everything is pitch black so we had to use our phone flashlights anyways to see where we were going. And then when we went to the green room to check out with her, she had her back facing us for about 3 minutes before even acknowledging our presence. She then smacked my mother’s hand and yelled at her when she reached for what she thought was her flashlight. Overall, I would say skip this experience to avoid supporting her.
Took my daughter for her 1st time here. I had been here before and had an amazing experience. This time was no different. My daughter and I both saw a shadow figure in the same hall. We also heard somethings. The owner Sharon was AMAZING. She was extremely kind and when we were leaving a little early as my daughter felt like she had enough Sharon offered to have a guide walk us around if that would make her feel better. What a kind and generous offer. We will definitely be back. If you are thinking about coming here please just do it. As long as you follow the rules, respect the property, and keep an open mind you will have a great time. Thank you Sharon for a memorable experience.
